Inclement Weather Procedures
To ensure the safety of students, school bus service may be cancelled from time to time due to inclement weather, extreme temperatures and/or poor road conditions. In these cases, parents/guardians and students should develop alternate care/transportation arrangements. Cancellation decisions will be made by 6:00a.m. Cancellation decisions will only be made after thorough consultation with the Safety Officers of school bus companies servicing York Region and are based on several factors including precipitation, air temperature, road conditions and weather forecast.
You can listen to one of the radio stations listed to determine if buses for York Region have been cancelled. If the York Region District School buses are cancelled, then York Catholic District School buses are also cancelled since we share the same buses. Once cancelled in the morning, buses will not be running in the afternoon either.
Schools are rarely closed, even though buses are cancelled. Please do not call the school to inquire if the school is open. Radio stations will provide the necessary information beginning 7:00 a.m. Parents/guardians are asked to exercise good judgment in deciding whether to send a child to school when buses have been cancelled. If you decide to drive your children in to school, please consider that over the course of the day, weather conditions could worsen, and retrieving your child at the end of the day may be particularly hazardous.

Please note that school bus charters (buses booked for trips) will not operate when home to school bus service is cancelled.
HOT LUNCH ORDERS
When buses are cancelled due to Inclement Weather – all Hot Lunches are cancelled: Rainbow Lunch, Lunch Lady, Subway and Pizza. If you choose to send your child to school, you must provide a lunch from home.
